يسمح باستخدام ذاكرة التخزين المؤقت لنظام الملفات في الوضع السلبي، أي الاستفادة من العناصر الموجودة بالفعل في ذاكرة التخزين المؤقت دون إضافة عناصر جديدة إليها. إذا عيّنت هذا الإعداد للاستعلامات المخصّصة الثقيلة وأبقيته معطّلًا للاستعلامات القصيرة الآنية، فسيُسهم ذلك في تجنّب إرهاق ذاكرة التخزين المؤقت بسبب الاستعلامات الثقيلة جدًا وتحسين كفاءة النظام عمومًا.
